Fully Mechanical, Built to Last. The Nikon That Shoots Without a Battery.
Introduced in 1977, the Nikon FM was built around one idea: a compact, all-metal SLR that keeps working whatever happens. Its metal focal-plane shutter is fully mechanical, from 1 second to 1/1000 plus Bulb, so the two small batteries only power the light meter. Three LEDs in the viewfinder (+, o, −) show when the exposure is right, which makes it one of the best cameras for learning to expose by hand. Flash syncs at 1/125, and the MD-11 and MD-12 motor drives add 3.5 frames per second when you need speed. The FM’s compact chassis became the base for the FE, FM2, FE2, FA and FM3A, and working photographers relied on it as a backup body for years. It takes the full range of AI and AI-S Nikkor lenses, some of the finest manual-focus glass ever made. This listing is the body only, ready for the lens of your choice. In Very Good condition, with light signs of use. For the photographer who wants a camera that will outlast them, or anyone learning manual exposure the way it was meant to be learned.
