The Last Great Professional Film SLR. The Pinnacle of an Era.
The Nikon F series began in 1959 and shaped professional photography for half a century. The F5 was its apex. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the man who styled Alfa Romeos and Maseratis, it combined an 8-frames-per-second motor drive, a revolutionary 3D Color Matrix metering system, a self-diagnosing and self-adjusting shutter, and a weather-sealed magnesium alloy body built for the abuse of war zones and wildlife expeditions. Production ended in 2004. A limited 50th Anniversary edition in titanium, just 3,000 units, was made for collectors who recognized it immediately as the definitive endpoint of professional film engineering. The standard F5 in Excellent grade is a trophy and a tool in equal measure. For the photographer who demands the very best that film has to offer, or the collector who understands what "the last one" means.
