The Camera That Focuses Where You Look. Canon's 45-Point Pioneer.
When Canon introduced the EOS-3 in November 1998, its autofocus was the most advanced the company had built: 45 focus points spread across the frame, a system later carried into the flagship EOS-1V. Canon then added a feature unique to its cameras, Eye-Controlled Focus, which follows your eye in the viewfinder and selects the point you're looking at. The rest of the specification is just as serious: shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 1/8000, 21-zone evaluative metering, E-TTL flash, weather sealing shared with the professional EOS-1N, and up to 7 frames per second with the PB-E2 booster. It stayed in Canon's catalog until around 2007, a measure of how far ahead it was. This example comes with a vertical grip for better handling in portrait orientation. In Very Good condition, it shows light signs of use. For the photographer who wants professional autofocus for their EF lenses, or anyone curious to try one of the most futuristic film cameras ever made.
